Back on the wagon

Hey... so I'm going to try out blogging again, it lets me empty my brain a little. Happy Christmas Eve. My dad fell asleep watching something on the History Channel about Freemasons... which is awkwardly interesting... but that's not the point, the point is that I recognized the narrator's voice as the guy from Dexter and I love him.

Had a Christmas get together with the family today @ Aunt Jill's house, got some good stuff... tomorrow we're going to Jason & Becky's for the same thing.

Oh update from whenever I blogged last, I have been working at a Starbucks in Target and I'm frighteningly good at making drinks. It's amazing.

Shark Attack...

So I've been up at school for the last 5 days, moving in & hanging out with the cousin. Good stuff. He's big and strong. One of my roommates, Jayme, has a fish tank with one cichlid in it, so she told me I could get some fish for it & she would take care of it... sounded like a good idea. Then she explained that her fish, 'lucifer' generally kills anything that enters the tank. So obviously, I decided to get something that could stand up to this jerk. The first thing that came to mind was sharks. Trev & I went to Meijer and got 2 baby sharks... I guess you could say it didn't pan out. One was savagely gummed until he died, less than three hours later, the other I found floating in the tank this morning. I didn't even have enough time to name them.

I drove Trev home today, so on the way home we stopped by the outlet mall in Lansing so he could go school shopping. Good fun. Oh oh oh and we went to a waterpark on Tuesday up in Gaylord. It was mediocre, but it had a surf simulator, which was totally worth it. I boogie boarded most of the time, due to my lack of balance, but I did try surfing. Trevor was okay at it. I think that if I try it again, I could probably do it.

Okay, I'm really sleeping, which is why this is probably ridiculously hard to read... sentence structure isn't my strong suit after about midnight. Goodnight.

Back to school...

Currently listening to: How the Earth Was Made
Currently reading: Lifehacker ... (psst... I'm a nerd)

In approximately 4 hours, I am going to go kidnap Trevor, watch a movie, sleep, then wake up and go to Central to move into my new apartment. I'm excited, I really like the set up of it, its a 3 floor situation. The basement has two bedrooms & a bathroom... where I'll be living, unfortunately. The main floor is the living room, kitchen & dining area. The top floor has 2 more bedrooms & a bathroom/laundry room. I'm kinda bitter about being in the basement, because I thought that the laundry was down there and it's not. Whatever, I guess it doesn't matter.

I'm getting a new car stereo next week when I come home to give Trev back to his mom. Woohoo. Okay, I don't know what else I have anything else to report. Oh oh except today was my last day of work. Yayyyyyyy. I never want to go back to that godforsaken beach.

Sooo.... ahhh.... I've been having weird dreams

Last night, I had a dream that I can only explain as ridiculous. It must have been inspired by seeing Wicked the other night. I was dreaming that I was at work, at the beach with Cat and Stephanie. The weather was normal, then all the sudden the temperature dropped about 20 degrees in under 5 minutes. It started thundering and lightening, so we closed the beach and a bunch of people took refuge inside the pavilion. I looked outside and it looked kind of threatening so I told Cat & Steph to come with me to the center of the building. Seconds later, it felt as if the entire building was floating. It was. A tornado had picked up the entire building and carried us about 3 miles, past the new Anchor Bay High School on County Line. The building landed like a plane & all of us, who were surprisingly calm, by the way, could see the landing. We slowly lowered on the road and skidded to a halt on a patch of land near Marine City Highway. It was sooo bizarre. I don't even remember how I got home, but I remember going to the park the next day and seeing the small amount of the pavilion that was left at the park, which was just a few studs. Mike yelled at me for it. Tool.

Escargot & Chablis

So... I'm watching Family Guy and Brian (the dog) goes on a date with this girl... and she pronounces everything wrong. Apparently it is /es-car-got/ and /chab-lis/. I love it. I wish I wasn't one of those people who liked Family guy, but I am. I really and truly am.

In an exciting update, I am going to Lansing on Saturday to go see Wicked with Jason & Becky. I'm very excited, I've pretty much become a slave to the soundtrack.

Aside from that, I have one week until I go back up to CMU! Woo hoo.

Okay, I'm going to sleep, I have a doctor's appointment early in the morning.

eventful week...

Sorry for not posting. I suck during summer. Anyways, Coop & I went out to Algonac to see the fireworks on Saturday and it ended up that he took us out on his boat. Here comes the fun part. His waterproof box, which contained both of our phones, plus my ID, plus Coop's wallet, plus everything of Trevor's... turned out not to be so waterproof. 2 completely dead cell phones later, we went to Best Buy and they couldn't do anything. Thank God for insurance. I only had to pay $50 for a new phone, which isn't horrible. And then today, Best Buy called & come to find out that my computer is irreparable, so I had to pick out a new one today. Well, really, I was kind of told which one I could get. But it isn't a bad one, it's a Sony VAIO. Pretty shnazzy. Less than 2 weeks until I go to Chicago! Oh & Triathlon is Saturday AM... so I'll be dead by Saturday night...

Update...

I finally had a reason for not posting... the crazy storms knocked out my cable & internet for a few days. Anyways, they were uneventful to say the least. I can't even remember what happened. Today was... work. So yeah.

Raise you're hand if you're a tool...

So... I've decided to bring back the word tool: (n) A person, typically male, who says or does things that cause you to give them a 'what-are-you-even-doing-here' look. The 'what-are-you-even-doing-here' look is classified by a glare in the tool's direction and is usually accompanied by muttering of how big of a tool they are. The tool is usually someone who is unwelcome but no one has the balls to tell them to get lost. The tool is always making comments that are out-of-place, out-of-line or just plain stupid. The tool is always trying too hard to fit in, and because of this, never will.

Thank you urban dictionary, for your definition.

Anyways, I work with a giant tool at the beach now. He makes me crazy and he attacked (verbally...) me when he found out I don't go to church. This kid just turned 18 and he's the epitome of a tool. He wears tennis shoes to the beach. Come on.

Work is going pretty well besides that kid, who I dread working with because he's so effing annoying. I finally made a schedule that Mike approved of, so we can move on with our lives. He made me do one for the entire month of June. Gahhhhhhh. That was kinda hard. But whatever, I did an okay job :).

Today I have my water test at the pool, so I can officially save lives. It should be easy enough, we have to go over some water saves to refresh our memories, then I'm pretty sure we have to swim a 500, which won't be too bad, the only part that sucks is the whole breathing under water thing. I did realize I've been making a huge mistake when swimming, & I've been doing it forever. When you breathe, you're supposed to breathe out when you're under water... I always held my breath, then tried to breathe out then breathe in while I had my head turned out of the water. That doesn't work. I had to train myself the other day not to do that.

I'll take a picture of the new waterfront in the next week or so, it looks really good.

The last few days... were something special indeed

Currently listening to: New Shoes by Paulo Nutini
Currently reading: I am in the middle of 3 or 4 books right now

So... Yes, I know I haven't updated. Oops.

Thursday:
I had a meeting at the Rec with Hoffard. I got head lifeguard! Woohoo. I think that's probably the only thing of interest I did on Thursday.

Friday:
Work at the beach, we had to put in lines, and Catherine Trombly, my savior, had a wetsuit, so she braved the harsh waters of Anchor Bay and I staved off hypothermia. Then I had my absolute last day ever of work at The Village of East Harbor. I totally quit and I feel very good about it. I hated that job and apparently they didn't like me much either, going by my complete lack of hours.

Saturday:
Cat, Brenden & I worked at the beach again today, doing pretty much the same thing. I yet again escaped without going in the water, since Brenden seemed to think that he had to prove his manhood by saying that he's done this before. I ran with it.

Sunday:
I went to the movies with Dad, Jason & Becky to see the new Indiana Jones movie. It was weird. I'm not going to ruin it for anyone, but it was definitely weird.

Monday:
First official day guarding. It wasn't supposed to be warm enough for people to swim, and truth be told, it really wasn't, but the water was overrun with kids, so Steph, Cat & I had to make sure they didn't die. It was a long day... and we didn't have our guard chairs yet, so we were standing all day. That amounts to swollen feet if you're wondering. Oh and duh, Coop came home yesterday, so she hung out with us at the beach for a few hours. It was good fun.

These dreams have to mean something...

So, can I tell you that I had another ridiculous dream last night? But not only did I have a weird dream, I had deja vu while having my dream. I only remember part of this dream, but it started out with a pool full of volleyballs. The pool was less than a foot deep at the nearest end, and approximately 3 feet deep at the other end and as long as an olympic swimming pool. About 6 feet past this pool is another pool, again, as long as an olympic swimming pool, but this time it is quite deep and full of very sinister things... I'm assuming sharks and/or alligators. Fifty feet above this pool is a slab of marble with spikes on the bottom that is the size of the swimming pool. So... this dream was kind of like a video game, except it felt very real. I was with about eight people and the object of the game was to move on to each obstacle. When you threw a volleyball into the first pool and it hit the bottom, the marble slab dropped and covered the second pool for about 30 seconds. Everyone had to swim across the first pool and then figure out how to get across the second one, since you couldn't go through it. If the group continually threw volleyballs at the bottom of the first pool, the slab of marble would stay down longer... long enough for one person to run across it. I knew that there was a button at the other end of the second pool that would keep the slab down indefinitely so that everyone could get across... but we never got there because one of the people I was with had a wheel barrel and we had to argue about it I guess... then I woke up.

And I have had this dream before... its soooo weird. I had another episode of deja vu today while my mom and I were gardening. Ahh... anyways, the garden is coming along nicely. I would post more but I'm falling asleep.

Eventful Morning?

This morning I was up at the crack of 7:46am... Cat & I had to go to the pool to get our certifications for lifeguarding this summer. We ended up staying till about 8:20, talking to coach & Schimers. Cat drove me home... and then it hit me... I forgot my house key. Damnit. I had gone so long without locking myself out of something... and then I go and do this. I did have keys to the garage and all of the cars we have, so no worries :(. We got into the garage and looked around for some keys, none of which could get us into my house. We eventually found the ladder and put it up to my bedroom window (yeah, on the second floor...) because that was the only open window in the house. Cat crawled in and let me back into my house. Then I fell asleep for about 4 hours. Start of a good day I guess...

One of my more bizarre dreams

I woke up this morning to my cat meowing fervently... apparently he wanted to go outside. It's really weird having a cat who refuses to use the litter box, instead opting to go outside... but whatev, its easier for us. Anyways, I fell back asleep... an into the weirdest dream I've had in a while. I was living on campus at school in Barnes, the international dorm. At some point during the dream, someone stole my shirt and I didn't seem to be wearing a bra, so I walked around holding my boobs. Then I found my roommate, a girl that I know, and don't particularly like, from the CDO department. Anyways, I had to ask her which dorm room we lived in, because I forgot. Turns out it was 120. Then I went in there and magically had a shirt on again. It was the weirdest dorm room, pretty much set up like a hotel room, with 2 double beds, that were supposed to sleep 4 people in total. It was awkward. Then my friends Erin and Christina decided to spend the night and sleep on the floor. Then I walked around the dorm again and found a pool... which was pretty sweet, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out why there was a pool there. And then I found Nicole, who was another one of my roommates and we went swimming. Then I woke up, really confused.

Tyra Just Killed My Soul

So... I'm sitting here watching TV with the roommate and due to a lack of actual programming, we found the Tyra Banks show. She just hit a new low. To preface this, let me just say that I am all for equality of any sort... and also, I have nothing against people who aren't skinny, because obviously, I am not. I draw the line at the phrase "Women of Size", closely followed by "Size Activism".

And here's another thing. If you look at my family, more notably the women in my family, you will understand that none of us are skinny. In fact, we are all plus sized. Guess what? We are all healthy. That's the difference between healthy and morbidly obese. And promoting obesity is the same as promoting anorexia and bulimia.

To make matters worse, she is acting like obesity has no affect at all on health. Gahhhhhhh. I really want to punch Tyra. She is in a position of power and should be promoting a healthy lifestyle. Okay, so if you never want to read my blog again, that's fine, but I can't deal with the perpetuation of any eating disorders.

Remember Tyra, skinny people aren't the only ones with eating disorders. Dumb bitch.

Let me just dig my own nerdy grave.

So... I've come up with a few creative endeavors for the summer... including but not limited to making my own Tivo. Because I'm amazing. And I can make it super easy and cheap. And no subscription to pay for. And yeah. I'm sweet. And it can run right from my computer :) I'm really excited. And yes, I know I'm a nerd. Whateva.

If my life were any busier, I think I would explode

Currently listening to: A video about class
Currently reading:nothing at all

Okay, so I have had no time at all to blog, but I would have to agree that it was pretty pathetic that Bean had to find out about how amazing I was in the drag show from Cat's blog. Anyways, it is pride week at Central, and as the new Co-President of the GSA, I have a lot to do... As soon as someone gets me some photos from the drag show, I'll post them here. But until then, you must wait :)

I was contemplating skipping my last class of the day, ASL, since it is pointless to go anymore... and because I have so much to do, but I guess I'll go on the off chance that we actually learn something today. Then I have BioLife... which I pretty much do to relax anymore, because its just me and my iPod. I usually end up watching a movie or something on it, so it is quite a nice break from the day.

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow, we're having a Banquet for Pride Week, followed by a Formal. I have a pretty dress. Don't tell mom I bought one ;) Butttt I planned for it in my budget for the semester and I'm sewing the wrap/sash thing myself so its cheap. I need to learn how to use a sewing machine this summer, I really want to be able to sew my own stuff, I think I could be really good at it, especially since all I do anymore when I am bored is drawing dresses in the margins of my notebooks and on napkins. I'm such a girl that it hurts. Also, I want to incorporate recycled materials into making stuff... because I'm kinda green :).

Okay, I guess this is it for today, I have to pretend to be paying attention to the movie we're watching in class today.

Oh the privileged children of the towers...

So I have a meeting in the Carey Hall Lobby today at six, for all of you non-CMU students, it is one of the 7 residence halls that make up the towers, a giant-mega complex of dorms, a dining hall, a store, a computer lab, a video rental store and classrooms. I figured that I would show up early and go downstairs to the Towers Computer Lab to check my email and inevitably, facebook. As I walk downstairs to the lab, I rent a video from the video store, then make my way to the basement. Looking ahead of me, I see the lab has undergone some construction, now it houses a Java City Coffee shop. The Towers residents are too spoiled. Anyways, unphased by this merger of a computer lab and coffee shop, I walk in, only to be stopped by a deskie.

"Do you have your chip ID? I need to scan it."

"Sure..?"

"Are you a towers resident?"

"No..?"

"Oh, then you can't use this lab, this is exclusively for towers residents."

Blank stare.
There are about 20 computers, mostly macs, and two of them are occupied. She decided to be nice and let me in, illegally. Why, as an over inflated tuition paying student at CMU, can I not use one of the many computers my tuition money has gone towards purchasing? Oh Towers. I hate you.

I can't remember what I was going to write today...

Currently listening to: Jazzy tunes from the coffee

I had an interesting weekend even though I have no idea what it was that I was going to write about today... although I think that Jill might remember. Anyways, I bought my grandma's Toyota Camry this weekend! Woohoo. It's not a bad car, I think its a 1994, but its a Toyota, so it will last forever. I'm stoked.

Yesterday was an accidental adventure, for being a Saturday. I went to an early breakfast with my mom, then we drove around and ended up in Port Huron... so we went to Canada. I'm not entirely sure why... but we ended up going to Sarnia. I got the most amazing thing ever: A Crunchie Bar...

I ate that and was instantly transported back to New Zealand. Amazing.

Bizarre mood? Bizarre post to follow.

Well... I'm home for the weekend and its just a few hours until Talk Sex with Sue Johanson, which is probably the most entertaining show on the planet. She's pretty much my hero. Anyways, I'm just home till about Tuesday at noon, then I'm heading back up to school so we can leave for D.C. bright and early @ 6am. Woohoo. Then we're driving about 14 hours... sick. I'm making some good CDs for the ride though, so it will be O.K. Right now, I can't help but think about baby names and I have no idea why. But as of right now, I have come up with a few that I want for my future kids. Don't worry, it won't be for a few years:

Boys: Colin, Ascher, Aiden
Girls: Isabel, Sofia, Francesca

Yeah... I don't know where that came from. In other news, I'm going to go to bed, I'm painfully tired right now.

Bizarre Dream... again

So this bizarre dream was a lot different than my last one. It was involving my living situation for next year. I don't remember everyone in the flat I was in, but there were 9 bedrooms. 7 of the bedrooms were in a line and connected by doors on either side of the closet, so that if all of them were open, you could walk through the entire length of the flat. Anyways, I was the last room, then next to me 2 girls I know were sharing a room, but they don't know each other. Then next room after that I think Nicole lived in, the one after that, Fifty... And then I don't remember the rest. The really weird part was that it was inside of Target. Like you walk behind the customer service desk and there is an entire apartment. It was really weird...

This is what Louie does to try to wake me up every day.

I don't care if you're hungry, I'm sleepy. Bitch.

So... I quickly want to share with you what I dreamed about last night. It was ridiculous. All that I really remember was the fact that my cousin Trevor was there, and that people kept leaving hypodermic needles all over the floor and I kept stepping on them. I really hated that dream, I was so anxious about getting a disease.

Life as a chess game...

I promise this will not be as philosophical as it sounds... this stemmed from a conversation Nicole and I had about the Knight on the chess board... after playing an intense game of chess.

So this King guy, he's here to be served and look glorious. We'll call him George Bush. He likes to pick fights with all of the people who can knock him over. Or nuke him. And when I say him, I mean us. And the Queen, well she has to do everything for that slob. We'll call her Condoleezza Rice. She's a bitch. But she can do what she wants. The Bishops are sneaky... and also they move diagonally. We'll call them Jeb Bush and and those tricky "signing statements" that Bush likes so much. Just in case something goes wrong, Bush has his brother in Florida to fuck things up. And these signing statements allow him to pass laws that he doesn't have to abide by. How sideways. Oh and the Knights. Well, they're special aren't they? We'll call them "No Child Left Behind" and Laura Bush. They seem to aim to do one thing... but get confused half way through and do something completely different... and what would you expect from someone who can only move in the shape of an "L", two steps forward, one to the side. The Rooks... well, they're just plain destructive. And since he is quite destructive, we'll just call Dick Cheney both of the Rooks. He's just a big idiot with a lot of power that likes to push down the skinny dorks on the playground. And sometimes shoot old men... but that's a different story. Finally, we have the Pawns. Or as I like to call them, the military. Well... the King makes them do his dirty work and usually, they die.

Hey George, take note...

Yes, Mr. Bush, I'm talking to you. Global Warming is happening. Right now. It has been 50 degrees and rainy for the last two days in Mount Pleasant, you know, it the middle of Michigan, in the middle of winter. What the fuck?

That is all.
