Summer is for late nights watching TV... and you know, other things too...

Currently listening to: Forensic Files on truTV...
Currently reading: Harry Potter a l'ecole des sorciers by J.K. Rowling (French Harry Potter), I'll Scream Later by Marlee Matlin

I watched the Oscar Nominated movie 'Rachel Getting Married' today... and was completely unimpressed. It was possibly the most contrived film I've ever seen. It tried way to hard to be a hard hitting emotional roller coaster of a movie and still failed to make me feel anything but boredom. In other watching things news... I've devoted the past few weeks to the TV series 'Lost'... mostly because I had seen random episodes and needed to understand it. It's most definitely an addicting show, but after watching the fifth season, I don't know how I feel about it anymore. I really did like it through the third season, then I got into the fourth season and wanted to like it, but it was starting to disappoint me. The fifth season made me sad... it wasn't fun to watch, mostly because it seems like it's setting up for an unimpressive sixth season. I really hope the show shapes up, because it is super interesting...

Anyways, I'm sitting upstairs listening to the TV and thunderstorm, waiting for sleep to come. Also, I just re-read the paragraph that I wrote and found it highly impersonal.

Tired.

Currently listening to: Negative by Project Jenny, Project Jan
Currently reading: 3 books... Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz, The Giver by Lois Lowry & Moab is My Washpot by Stephen Fry

This is proving to be an exceptionally boring summer. I've spent so much time sleeping/reading/watching TV and I've only been home for 2 weeks. I am having fun experimenting in the kitchen though, I've been cooking for my mom & dad. I guess that's all I'm going to blog about, I'm tired.

This time I mean it....

Currently listening to: A Harry Potter Podcast... (I'm a dork)
Currently reading: Doctor Who - The Story of Martha (Also a dork)

Yes, yes, it's been a long time since I've written anything... I'm not sure why, I just kinda got out of the habit of telling everyone what I've been up to, but now is as good a time as any to start again. I'm in New Baltimore again for the summer... to make a long story short, I spent the first week of my summer vacation working in Wisconsin at a really awful job at what used to be a really great water park. It sucked. A lot. And they had us living in the most awful housing I've ever been to, and I lived for a week in a bure. So, I - as well as Nicole - quit. We stayed for a night at a hotel so that I could fill my quota for going down water slides for the summer. We ended up staying at the Kalahari for an amazing price and after hearing our sob story from our job, the girl at reception upgraded us to an amazing suite. It was pretty great.

Now, I'm pretty much staying home, although I'm doing all the cooking and cleaning for mom & dad and being reimbursed monetarily... which is better than being in the hole in Wisconsin.

As much as I think I will never go back to the state of Wisconsin, there are 2 great things that I had the chance to experience. Cheese Curds and Fairy Food. Yes, they're both food. Which just shows that Wisconsin doesn't have anything to offer but food. Anyways, Cheese Curds are pretty great, but turns out that Fairy Food is my long lost love Hokey Pokey from New Zealand. So that was exciting. Otherwise, Wisconsin can suck it.

Hopefully this summer I will get some sewing done and maybe get my own web domain, because who doesn't want their own website?

As soon as my roommate sends me the photos from our awful apartment in Wisconsin, I will post them here.

Back on the wagon

Hey... so I'm going to try out blogging again, it lets me empty my brain a little. Happy Christmas Eve. My dad fell asleep watching something on the History Channel about Freemasons... which is awkwardly interesting... but that's not the point, the point is that I recognized the narrator's voice as the guy from Dexter and I love him.

Had a Christmas get together with the family today @ Aunt Jill's house, got some good stuff... tomorrow we're going to Jason & Becky's for the same thing.

Oh update from whenever I blogged last, I have been working at a Starbucks in Target and I'm frighteningly good at making drinks. It's amazing.

Shark Attack...

So I've been up at school for the last 5 days, moving in & hanging out with the cousin. Good stuff. He's big and strong. One of my roommates, Jayme, has a fish tank with one cichlid in it, so she told me I could get some fish for it & she would take care of it... sounded like a good idea. Then she explained that her fish, 'lucifer' generally kills anything that enters the tank. So obviously, I decided to get something that could stand up to this jerk. The first thing that came to mind was sharks. Trev & I went to Meijer and got 2 baby sharks... I guess you could say it didn't pan out. One was savagely gummed until he died, less than three hours later, the other I found floating in the tank this morning. I didn't even have enough time to name them.

I drove Trev home today, so on the way home we stopped by the outlet mall in Lansing so he could go school shopping. Good fun. Oh oh oh and we went to a waterpark on Tuesday up in Gaylord. It was mediocre, but it had a surf simulator, which was totally worth it. I boogie boarded most of the time, due to my lack of balance, but I did try surfing. Trevor was okay at it. I think that if I try it again, I could probably do it.

Okay, I'm really sleeping, which is why this is probably ridiculously hard to read... sentence structure isn't my strong suit after about midnight. Goodnight.

Back to school...

Currently listening to: How the Earth Was Made
Currently reading: Lifehacker ... (psst... I'm a nerd)

In approximately 4 hours, I am going to go kidnap Trevor, watch a movie, sleep, then wake up and go to Central to move into my new apartment. I'm excited, I really like the set up of it, its a 3 floor situation. The basement has two bedrooms & a bathroom... where I'll be living, unfortunately. The main floor is the living room, kitchen & dining area. The top floor has 2 more bedrooms & a bathroom/laundry room. I'm kinda bitter about being in the basement, because I thought that the laundry was down there and it's not. Whatever, I guess it doesn't matter.

I'm getting a new car stereo next week when I come home to give Trev back to his mom. Woohoo. Okay, I don't know what else I have anything else to report. Oh oh except today was my last day of work. Yayyyyyyy. I never want to go back to that godforsaken beach.

Sooo.... ahhh.... I've been having weird dreams

Last night, I had a dream that I can only explain as ridiculous. It must have been inspired by seeing Wicked the other night. I was dreaming that I was at work, at the beach with Cat and Stephanie. The weather was normal, then all the sudden the temperature dropped about 20 degrees in under 5 minutes. It started thundering and lightening, so we closed the beach and a bunch of people took refuge inside the pavilion. I looked outside and it looked kind of threatening so I told Cat & Steph to come with me to the center of the building. Seconds later, it felt as if the entire building was floating. It was. A tornado had picked up the entire building and carried us about 3 miles, past the new Anchor Bay High School on County Line. The building landed like a plane & all of us, who were surprisingly calm, by the way, could see the landing. We slowly lowered on the road and skidded to a halt on a patch of land near Marine City Highway. It was sooo bizarre. I don't even remember how I got home, but I remember going to the park the next day and seeing the small amount of the pavilion that was left at the park, which was just a few studs. Mike yelled at me for it. Tool.

Escargot & Chablis

So... I'm watching Family Guy and Brian (the dog) goes on a date with this girl... and she pronounces everything wrong. Apparently it is /es-car-got/ and /chab-lis/. I love it. I wish I wasn't one of those people who liked Family guy, but I am. I really and truly am.

In an exciting update, I am going to Lansing on Saturday to go see Wicked with Jason & Becky. I'm very excited, I've pretty much become a slave to the soundtrack.

Aside from that, I have one week until I go back up to CMU! Woo hoo.

Okay, I'm going to sleep, I have a doctor's appointment early in the morning.

eventful week...

Sorry for not posting. I suck during summer. Anyways, Coop & I went out to Algonac to see the fireworks on Saturday and it ended up that he took us out on his boat. Here comes the fun part. His waterproof box, which contained both of our phones, plus my ID, plus Coop's wallet, plus everything of Trevor's... turned out not to be so waterproof. 2 completely dead cell phones later, we went to Best Buy and they couldn't do anything. Thank God for insurance. I only had to pay $50 for a new phone, which isn't horrible. And then today, Best Buy called & come to find out that my computer is irreparable, so I had to pick out a new one today. Well, really, I was kind of told which one I could get. But it isn't a bad one, it's a Sony VAIO. Pretty shnazzy. Less than 2 weeks until I go to Chicago! Oh & Triathlon is Saturday AM... so I'll be dead by Saturday night...

Update...

I finally had a reason for not posting... the crazy storms knocked out my cable & internet for a few days. Anyways, they were uneventful to say the least. I can't even remember what happened. Today was... work. So yeah.

Raise you're hand if you're a tool...

So... I've decided to bring back the word tool: (n) A person, typically male, who says or does things that cause you to give them a 'what-are-you-even-doing-here' look. The 'what-are-you-even-doing-here' look is classified by a glare in the tool's direction and is usually accompanied by muttering of how big of a tool they are. The tool is usually someone who is unwelcome but no one has the balls to tell them to get lost. The tool is always making comments that are out-of-place, out-of-line or just plain stupid. The tool is always trying too hard to fit in, and because of this, never will.

Thank you urban dictionary, for your definition.

Anyways, I work with a giant tool at the beach now. He makes me crazy and he attacked (verbally...) me when he found out I don't go to church. This kid just turned 18 and he's the epitome of a tool. He wears tennis shoes to the beach. Come on.

Work is going pretty well besides that kid, who I dread working with because he's so effing annoying. I finally made a schedule that Mike approved of, so we can move on with our lives. He made me do one for the entire month of June. Gahhhhhhh. That was kinda hard. But whatever, I did an okay job :).

Today I have my water test at the pool, so I can officially save lives. It should be easy enough, we have to go over some water saves to refresh our memories, then I'm pretty sure we have to swim a 500, which won't be too bad, the only part that sucks is the whole breathing under water thing. I did realize I've been making a huge mistake when swimming, & I've been doing it forever. When you breathe, you're supposed to breathe out when you're under water... I always held my breath, then tried to breathe out then breathe in while I had my head turned out of the water. That doesn't work. I had to train myself the other day not to do that.

I'll take a picture of the new waterfront in the next week or so, it looks really good.

The last few days... were something special indeed

Currently listening to: New Shoes by Paulo Nutini
Currently reading: I am in the middle of 3 or 4 books right now

So... Yes, I know I haven't updated. Oops.

Thursday:
I had a meeting at the Rec with Hoffard. I got head lifeguard! Woohoo. I think that's probably the only thing of interest I did on Thursday.

Friday:
Work at the beach, we had to put in lines, and Catherine Trombly, my savior, had a wetsuit, so she braved the harsh waters of Anchor Bay and I staved off hypothermia. Then I had my absolute last day ever of work at The Village of East Harbor. I totally quit and I feel very good about it. I hated that job and apparently they didn't like me much either, going by my complete lack of hours.

Saturday:
Cat, Brenden & I worked at the beach again today, doing pretty much the same thing. I yet again escaped without going in the water, since Brenden seemed to think that he had to prove his manhood by saying that he's done this before. I ran with it.

Sunday:
I went to the movies with Dad, Jason & Becky to see the new Indiana Jones movie. It was weird. I'm not going to ruin it for anyone, but it was definitely weird.

Monday:
First official day guarding. It wasn't supposed to be warm enough for people to swim, and truth be told, it really wasn't, but the water was overrun with kids, so Steph, Cat & I had to make sure they didn't die. It was a long day... and we didn't have our guard chairs yet, so we were standing all day. That amounts to swollen feet if you're wondering. Oh and duh, Coop came home yesterday, so she hung out with us at the beach for a few hours. It was good fun.

New Layout :)

Currently watching: Family Guy
Currently reading: You... On a Diet by Dr. OZ

So I'm getting bored with the black background... we'll see how this works. I'd like to be able to put a picture in the background... but I don't know how. I'll learn.

These dreams have to mean something...

So, can I tell you that I had another ridiculous dream last night? But not only did I have a weird dream, I had deja vu while having my dream. I only remember part of this dream, but it started out with a pool full of volleyballs. The pool was less than a foot deep at the nearest end, and approximately 3 feet deep at the other end and as long as an olympic swimming pool. About 6 feet past this pool is another pool, again, as long as an olympic swimming pool, but this time it is quite deep and full of very sinister things... I'm assuming sharks and/or alligators. Fifty feet above this pool is a slab of marble with spikes on the bottom that is the size of the swimming pool. So... this dream was kind of like a video game, except it felt very real. I was with about eight people and the object of the game was to move on to each obstacle. When you threw a volleyball into the first pool and it hit the bottom, the marble slab dropped and covered the second pool for about 30 seconds. Everyone had to swim across the first pool and then figure out how to get across the second one, since you couldn't go through it. If the group continually threw volleyballs at the bottom of the first pool, the slab of marble would stay down longer... long enough for one person to run across it. I knew that there was a button at the other end of the second pool that would keep the slab down indefinitely so that everyone could get across... but we never got there because one of the people I was with had a wheel barrel and we had to argue about it I guess... then I woke up.

And I have had this dream before... its soooo weird. I had another episode of deja vu today while my mom and I were gardening. Ahh... anyways, the garden is coming along nicely. I would post more but I'm falling asleep.

Eventful Morning?

This morning I was up at the crack of 7:46am... Cat & I had to go to the pool to get our certifications for lifeguarding this summer. We ended up staying till about 8:20, talking to coach & Schimers. Cat drove me home... and then it hit me... I forgot my house key. Damnit. I had gone so long without locking myself out of something... and then I go and do this. I did have keys to the garage and all of the cars we have, so no worries :(. We got into the garage and looked around for some keys, none of which could get us into my house. We eventually found the ladder and put it up to my bedroom window (yeah, on the second floor...) because that was the only open window in the house. Cat crawled in and let me back into my house. Then I fell asleep for about 4 hours. Start of a good day I guess...
